Thanks for stopping by!

I'm Kim, a lifestyle family & portrait photographer who has recently moved to the Charlotte, NC - Belmont area from Central Ohio.  I was born & raised in Buffalo, NY, moved to Ohio in 2018 with my husband and as of late summer of 2025, live in Charlotte, NC with our three year old daughter, nine month old son and two cats.

When i'm not shooting, in my free time you'll find me spending time with my husband and children or kicking back on the couch watching a good Netflix series.  In the summer I love to tend to my vegetable & flower gardens and go on walks.  In the winter you'll likely finding me crocheting a new blanket or hat for my son & daughter.

Photography has always been a passion of mine ever since I was little.  I took the first step to explore it further during a black & white film photography class during my abroad studies in London, England where it has slowly evolved over the years.  I consider myself a "moment-catcher"-- someone always chasing that special connection between loved ones. I believe that every person and family has a story to tell and my goal is to help you tell it. Photography has given me an opportunity to capture the things that mean most and freeze the little, unexpected moments in time that you never want to forget.

My hope is that I can do the same for you, capturing lasting memories that you can cherish for a lifetime. I hope to meet you soon!

Xx  Kim

My Story

From a young age, I was always drawn to photography. Always chasing the perfect sunset or sunrise, trying to capture connections that couldn't be replicated. But photography wasn't always as big a part of my life as it is now.

A little about my background; I graduated from a small private school in upstate New York with a BS in Management, Marketing Concentration and a Minor in Communications/Journalism, with studies abroad to London, England my Junior year where I took a black & white film photography class in the heart of London.

Out of college, I started in the hospitality field after being accepted as one of 4 in 2200 applicants into Hyatt's Corporate Management Training Program.  I wanted to understand everything I could about hotel operations. Following a successful program completion, I was promoted into my first leadership role within the food & beverage operations department of one of Hyatt's flagship, top 10 resorts in the country in Orlando, Florida.  It was here that affirmed my desire to want to work closely with people day in and out.  After six years in hospitality, I moved into IT working for a global technology services & distribution company.  This all before the term "cloud technology" was even known.  This is where I would continue my career, in Sales & Business Development Leadership for the next 10-15 years working with and for many of the big tech giants in the industry. My time in IT brought me to places like Hong Kong, Australia and all over domestic US & Canada.

Ambitious and career-driven jumping at any opportunity that arose, my husband and I didn't end up meeting until our late 30s. When it came time to starting our family, my husband and I faced some difficult times.  After several years of infertility and pregnancy loss I decided to take a leap of faith by taking a step away from my career to focus on my health and starting our family.  When we finally had our daughter in the Spring of 2023 with the help of IVF, we decided take this as an opportunity for me to raise my daughter as a stay-at-home mom.  It was then that I decided to take my passion for photography- something that had always been more of a "side hustle" and build it into something much bigger.  It is then that Kimberly Anne Photography LLC (now- Charlotte & Emerson Photography) was born.

I truly believe that my path is unique and one that was meant for me, and that both of my careers in hospitality and IT taught & provided me the tools necessary to building a successful business as a now-entrepreneur & small business owner.

Now as a full-time photographer, it is not often that you will find me away from my lens for long. I'm constantly working to find new ways to make each session with my clients better than the last.  This includes investing in educational classes with industry-leading experts, attending in-person workshops & retreats both domestically & internationally, scouring hours of online content, and investing in the latest & greatest professional software, tools & gear- as well as networking with other photographers and small business owners both locally and across the globe.

In addition to my photography business, I also work part-time at my church as a Marketing, Communications & Events Coordinator.  I am blessed to have the balance and flexibility of both while raising our daughter and over time my hope is to continue to nurture the photography business that I've already created and to grow it into something even bigger. I have big dreams for my business and I can't wait to take you along on the journey!  I look forward to capturing moments and connections with your loved ones and helping you create memories that you can cherish for a lifetime (all while having some fun doing it too!)

A Special Thank-You

It would be lost on me if I did not give a special shout-out and thank-you to those clients, friends and family that have supported me over the years in what was once a hobby/passion and over time grew into a business. Your unwavering support is appreciated more than you know and I am grateful to each and every one of you for joining me on this journey! <3 Xx Kim

EDUCATION, STUDIES & CONTENT DAYS

Investing in ongoing education & studies each year is important to me and my business and is also transformative to me as a photographer. Each year I try my best to invest in at least one solid 3-5 day educational workshop to ensure I am offering my clients the best possible experience and staying up-to-date with the latest & greatest tools and editing styles, tips, tricks & software. I also believe that it is important to network with, support and learn from other photographers in the industry.
